This ongoing series of paintings is based on the present state of structures built during the not so distant industrial and economic past of North America.
These structures can be viewed as monuments to the hyper productive age that spawned the largest period of growth in the history of civilization,
or as a testament to our disregard for the environment that sustains us.
These structures are now being dismantled and dissolved.
In my opinion, this process is a most natural one that is powerful and renewing.
In my work I hope to capture the transience of our time on this planet and the unstoppable renewal that takes place every second.

Several of these paintings are of a complex of buildings where Pierce-Arrow automobiles were produced in Buffalo, New York.
The company declared insolvency in 1938 and closed its doors. The final Pierce-Arrow assembled was built by Karl Wise, the firm's Chief Engineer,
from parts secured from the company's receivers. Pierce's holdings were sold at auction on Friday, May 13, 1938.
Other paintings in this series include the abandoned grain elevators on the Buffalo river: and the magnificent Buffalo State Hospital grounds, designed by H. H. Richardson.

My work in both pen and ink and watercolor painting reflects my surroundings in Western New York and Southern Ontario.
My landscapes are of the intense natural beauty of the area I live and places I've traveled.
My industrial paintings are also depictions of nature, the natural decay of our industrial age and the process of nature reclaiming the materials we use to build.
There is great beauty in rust and decay. I feel fortunate to live in such a visually stimulating area of this little blue planet.
